Meet Jatoyia Armour

I’m an author, advocate, and community builder whose work is rooted in lived experience.

My advocacy began as a parent navigating a special education system that wasn’t listening to my child’s needs. Learning how to speak up, asking the right questions, and pushing for accountability became a necessity, not a choice. That journey led me to write ROAR at the Table, a survival guide for parents who are trying to understand systems, find their voice, and advocate for their children with confidence and clarity.

Alongside advocacy, my work is also shaped by my personal weight loss journey. After losing over 170 pounds, I experienced firsthand how much healing happens beyond the scale. The emotional shifts, identity changes, and need for real support inspired me to create Bariatric Paths, a space for honest conversation, connection, and community for people navigating surgical and non-surgical weight loss without shame or judgment.

Today, I speak, collaborate, and contribute to conversations centered on advocacy, identity, and life after major change. Whether I’m working with parents, organizations, podcasts, or communities, my focus is always the same: helping people feel seen, informed, and empowered to move forward.

If you’re looking to learn more about my work, you can explore ROAR at the Table for parent advocacy resources or Bariatric Paths for weight loss support and community. If you’re interested in speaking, collaboration, or conversation, I’d love to connect.
